Crucible has always been known for producing the finest quality tool steels. Dependability and top performance in tooling demand steel that consistently meets specifications for hardness, toughness, heat treatment and abrasion resistance...on every order.

To ensure consistent quality and uniformity, Crucible uses AOD refining technology to produce all of its tool steels. Each offers a variety of alloy compositions that are tailored to meet specific performance criteria. Crucible manufactures both cold work and hot work tool steels.

Crucible cold work steels combine wear, toughness, and compressive strength characteristics that permit relatively heavy forming and cutting operations at room temperature.

The primary grades in this family are Airkool (A2), Airdi 150 (D2), Airkool S (A2S), and Crucible S7 (S7). Our hot work/mold steels are designed to resist failure in a variety of high temperature applications, such as die casting, plastic injection molding, hot forging, hot shearing, or extrusion. Hot work steels maintain a high hardness level when used at work piece temperatures above 1000? F. Crucible's steels for plastic mold and die casting are famous for their dimensional stability, uniformity, and superior machining and polishing characteristics. The common grades produced in this family of tool steels are Nudie V (H13), WR-95 (H10), Halcomb 218 (H11), Halcomb 425 (H19), Crucible Specialty Metals #2 (P-20) and stainless mold steels Crucible Specialty Metals 420, and Crucible Specialty Metals 21 (age-hardening).
