High-speed steels are high-alloyed steels designed to withstand the intense heat generated at the tool's cutting edge. Crucible's high-speed steels are made by electric arc melting and argon oxygen decarburization methods, using different chemistries to achieve specific properties and performance characteristics.
These steels, used to produce cutting tools, fill the needs of high-speed machining applications where varying degrees of toughness, red hardness, and wear-resistance are required. Crucible's long history of research and grade development has led to an outstanding conventional high-speed steel line that includes standards such as Rex M2, M2HCHS, Rex TMO (M1), Rex M7, Rex M42, and others.
